Belle Bélier x The Simple Slow

We sat down with Andrea Miner of @thesimpleslow to discuss sustainable fashion and how she has come to make it apart of her life.

Tell us a little bit about you.

Hey! I’m Andrea Miner and I currently live in Nashville, TN. I grew up in New Braunfels, TX, which used to be a small little town about 30 miles south of Austin. I went to college at Texas State University and majored in education. After graduating college, I followed my big city dreams and moved to Austin to teach 4th grade. After a tumultuous year, I felt that teaching wasn’t calling my name as loudly as it had been before and spent the next couple years trying to figure out what was next. Having impact and making a difference in the world was always the focus behind wanting to teach and when I learned more about the fast fashion industry, I knew I had a new way that I could channel my passion- by educating myself and others about sustainable fashion!

Why is sustainability important to you?

I think we’ve already begun to see some of the devastating effects of not caring for the Earth and I really want to be able to slow down/stop these things from continuing to happen. This world is such a beautiful place and I want to be able to enjoy it, while also leaving something beautiful behind for future generations.

Which are your favorite fashion brands and/or individuals, whose ethos you most respect and are inspired by?

For me, it’s always been Nisolo and Elizabeth Suzann. They were two of the first brands I became aware of in the ethical fashion world and I’ve admired watching them grow while still staying true to their missions of sustainability and transparency.

4.  What is your favorite Belle Bélier piece and why?

The tassel necklace! I love how simple it is but it’s still very much a statement piece for me! I love how I can also still layer it with a shorter necklace for a totally different look.
